Harvey Norris is a clinical social worker who has been practicing for 33 years.He has spent 15 years running Exam Cram classes for Social Workers to Pass the License Exam and is the author of 200 Questions Every Social Worker Should Know and 100 DSM5 Questions Every Social Worker Should Know. He has helped hundred of social worker conquer the ASWB(r) examHe specializes in post traumatic stress disorder, trauma, anxiety, and depression. He is a Certified Complex Trauma Professional (CCTPII), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Certified and Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Certified.After moving to Louisiana, he spent seven years working for the VA, six of those as a suicide prevention coordinator. He spent several years working in a civilian position of behavioral health with a Louisiana Army National Guard/US Army.In 2006 he began to train police officers and understanding how to approach and interact with people with mental health problems, using verbal, de-escalation and non-physical interventions. in 2017, he was offered a position with the St Martin Parish Sheriff’s office, specifically working with Captain Carol Knott helping veterans. He began law enforcement training in 2017 and was commissioned as a Deputy Sheriff in 2018 and has served since helping Veterans achieve their disability benefits.He currently works as a clinical supervisor, overseeing the work of approximately 15 therapists, providing mental health and behavioral services to low income, families and disabled citizens.He has presented to NASW State Conferences in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana as well as providing private trainings for Licensure CE's in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas,He was recently appointed to serve on the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners, Ad-Hoc Rules Committee, helping develop and implement new rules for licensed social workers in Louisiana.
